The first edition dust jacket is blank on the inside back cover, while the later printing add reviews. The British 1st edition of Doors of Perception (of which there were 4 printings impressions) attracts the most interest from collectors, with the excellent Jack Woodcock dust jacket, which wasn’t retained for the dull, academic looking US edition published by Harper & Brothers. The dust jackets are also fairly fragile with most copies now showing minor loss and chipping at the top. The cover boards (not covered by the dust jacket) reacts with the cheap, post war paper on the fly page, producing a discoloured stripe. ![]() These two titles were original published in hardback only by Chatto & Windus in 1954 & 1956, before Penguin combined them into a single paperback in 1959.Īlmost every copy I’ve handled of the 1st edition hardback editions of both titles have developed the same minor age related storage discolouration to the inside boards. ![]()
